CETC students celebrate exam success

CETC STUDENTS CELEBRATE SUCCESS IN DECEMBER 05 PAQ EXAMS

CIPFA Education and Training Centre (CETC) students are once again celebrating fantastic results in the recent Professional Accountancy Qualification (PAQ) exams. This is the latest in a succession of exam sittings that has seen the pass rates for CETC students in all four centres (London, Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh) exceed the CIPFA national average pass rates for the majority of PAQ modules, with several groups scoring 100% pass rates.

Of particular note:

  • CETC students exceeded the national average on all certificate and diploma modules. Significantly in Financial and Performance Reporting which scored a CETC average of 87% against the national average of 55%, and Financial Management Systems and Techniques which scored 87% against the national average of 62%.

  • Students on the Financial Accounting and Management Accounting group at CETC East Scotland showed an excellent performance with 100% for both modules, an increase of 27% and 37% on the national average.

  • PAQ Fast Track groups, which are attended mainly by students from KPMG and PWC and typically sit three modules each semester, also delivered top class results. The CETC Midlands group achieved a 100% pass rate for Leadership Management and Taxation modules against the national average of 67% and 77% respectively. Equally, the CETC South East group achieved the same 100% pass rates and a further 100% for Financial Performance Reporting. A further South East PAQ Fast Track group who studied Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, and Audit & Assurance attained 100%, 100%, and 97& pass rates respectively.

Gary Gilbert, Head of CETC, said: "These tremendous results reflect the hard work put in by all CETC students and the quality of the support given by our trainers; they can be pleased that their efforts have been so richly rewarded. We are proud of our now well-established tradition of exceeding the national average pass rates and are confident that this is because attending added value courses at CETC not only provides the best learning environment for students but also equips them with the skills they need to succeed."

This sitting also saw the results for the inaugural in-house group of students from the Department of Work and Pensions, who studied the Diploma modules, Audit & Assurance and Financial Performance Reporting, at their offices in Leeds. Training Manager for the DWP Financial Management Development Scheme, Sandra Somers, who took the decision to move the students to an in-house course delivered by CETC, said: "We knew that by asking CETC to deliver our in-house course we would enable students to improve their abilities, realise their potential and achieve good results. I am delighted that they have exceeded our expectations, achieving an excellent 100% pass rate. CETC's courses really do deliver results."
