NSF Excellence in Education Award 2008

CETC Senior Trainer wins NSF Excellence in Education Award

For the third consecutive year a CIPFA Education and Training Centre (CETC) Senior Trainer has won the CIPFA National Student Forum (NSF) Excellence in Education Award. Philip McCosker, was announced as the winner of the award at the 2008 NSF Conference in Manchester on 3 July 2008.

Students throughout the UK had the opportunity to nominate any lecturer from any of the accredited CIPFA course providers that they believe had shown dedication, commitment and enthusiasm beyond the call of duty.

Gary Gilbert, Head of CETC, says: "We are so pleased for Philip that he has been recognised for his hard work and contribution towards his student's education and training. Thank you to all of you who did make a nomination. It is wonderful you use your chance to have a say and to acknowledge your lecturers. Given the dedication of our students in achieving their goals it is no surprise that CETC tutors have now won this important award three years in succession."

Philip joined CETC in 2005. He is CETC's Module Leader for Financial Reporting, and is also involved in delivering courses for Financial Accounting, Accounting for Decision Making and the Finance and Management Case Study. Philip is based at CETC Midlands in Birmingham, but like all CETC trainers he delivers courses at other CETC course venues. Philip was unable to collect the award in person as he was on holiday at the time, but on hearing the news of the award he said "I am delighted to have received this award from the National Student Forum. I'd like to thank all those who took the time and effort to nominate me especially as the nominations take place at a time when students are particularly busy revising for their exams. We are fortunate at CETC that our students are highly committed and hardworking, many of them travelling long distances to get to our centres. Their determination and desire to succeed stimulates and inspires tutors to help students attain the best results possible."
